Pa. boys and girls: OJR's Tornetta wins 400th game
Joe Tornetta, the girls' lacrosse coach at Owen J. Roberts, won his 400th career game Saturday afternoon with a 16-5 victory at Wilson-West Lawn.
Joe Tornetta, the girls' lacrosse coach at Owen J. Roberts, won his 400th career game Saturday afternoon with a 16-5 victory at Wilson-West Lawn.
Tornetta won 396 games in 24 seasons at Great Valley. This is his first season with Owen J. Roberts.
Kerry Huzzard scored four goals and had an assist. Maddie Gebert and Morgan Stone scored three goals apiece.
In another nonleague game, Lexi Kenneally scored three goals and Radnor beat visiting Milton (Ga.), 9-8, in Hilton Head, S.C. Reilly Masterson and Hannah Proctor each scored twice. Maddie Lally had 11 saves.
Boys' Lacrosse
Jimmy Nowoswiat scored four goals and host Unionville won a nonleague game against Council Rock South, 12-5. Winslow Davis and Danny Donovan added three goals each. Owen Rogers made 10 saves.
Behind two goals and four assists by Bobby McClure, Haverford High won at West Chester Rustin, 9-8. Luke McCallion scored four times. Kevin Kaufmann had a pair of goals and an assist.
Track & Field
Nicolette Serratore, a senior at Methacton, was named female athlete of the meet at the Pennsylvania Track Classic at Plymouth Whitemarsh. Serratore placed first in triple jump (36-2.75) and javelin (125-01).
Brooklynn Broadwater, a junior at Springside Chestnut Hill, placed first in the 300 hurdles (43.87) and 400 meters (58.73).
Truman's Eric Parson took first in long jump (19-8) and triple jump (43-3.5). Kieran Moore placed first in shot put and discus.
