Happy Bull wins 2010 debut

In his first start of the year, Michael Dubb and Richard Frisina's Happy Bull overcame breaking in a tangle at the start before notching a victory in the featured allowance at Delaware Park Monday.

With Terry Thompson aboard, the 4-year-old son of Yonaguska won by 2 1/4-lengths and returned $7.80 as the second choice in the field of eight. The Kentucky-bred trained by Anthony Dutrow closed off of fractions of :22.11 for the quarter and :44.89 for the half before completing the six furlongs in 1:10.79 over a fast main track.

The 2-to-1 favorite, Poppa's Pick finished second 3/4-lengths in front of Song of Stars in third.

Last year, Happy Bull posted a record three wins, two seconds and a third from sevens starts including a Delaware Park allowance score and a third in the Grade III Jersey Shore Stakes. His career record is four wins, two seconds, and two thirds from eight outings with earnings of $146,400.
