THEY ALWAYS said former Olympic runner Suzy Favor Hamilton was fast. Turns out she's loose, too.

Favor Hamilton, 44, told TheSmokingGun.com on Thursday that she has been working as a prostitute for an escort service in Las Vegas.

The middle-distance runner competed in the Olympics in 1992, '96 and 2000 but never medaled. She was a nine-time NCAA champion at Wisconsin and won seven U.S. national titles.

According to the website, Favor Hamilton uses the name "Kelly Lundy" while working as a $600-an-hour call girl.

Favor Hamilton is married - she said her husband doesn't approve of her being an escort - and has a 7-year-old daughter. When she's not escorting, she's operates a real-estate firm, gives motivational speeches, and makes appearances for Disney and the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon series.

"I take full responsibility for my mistakes," she told The Smoking Gun. "I'm not the victim and I'm not going that route. I'm owning up to what I did. I would not blame anybody except myself. Everybody in this world makes mistakes. I made a huge mistake. Huge."

After the story appeared on the website, she sent out several tweets on her Twitter account addressing the situation.

"As crazy as I know it seems, I never thought I would be exposed, therefore never hurting anybody," she wrote.

In another tweet, she wrote that she was "drawn to escorting in large part because it provided many coping mechanisms for me when I was going through a very challenging time with my marriage and my life."

The Smoking Gun reported that she had to deal with her brother's suicide in 1999 and had been prescribed antidepressants in 2005 after the birth of her daughter.

In one of her tweets, she wrote that she is planning to quit the escort business and has sought psychological treatment.

"I fully intend to make amends and get back to being a good mother, wife, daughter, and friend," she wrote.
