Here's a rundown on how the Phillies' minor league teams fared on Monday, April 28:

Lehigh Valley IronPigs – Triple A

The IronPigs were outlasted by the Pawtucket Red Sox, 4-2, in 11 innings at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown, Pa.

The teams scored a run in both the second and ninth innings as extras were needed to determine a winner.

Left-handed starter Greg Smith gave the IronPigs seven strong innings, but settled for a no-decision. He allowed a run on five hits while striking out six.

In the second, first baseman Jim Murphy and left fielder Leandro Castro hit back-to-back doubles for the IronPigs' first run of the game.

A two-out rally in the bottom of the ninth sent the game to extras. Two singles by second baseman Matt Tolbert and shortstop Troy Hanzawa preceded right fielder Clete Thomas' walk to load the bases. Designated hitter Tyler Henson used an infield single to knot the game at two apiece.

Righty B.J. Rosenberg came in from the bullpen to pitch in extra innings and gave up two runs on a liner that struck him in the head. He was removed from the game as a precaution, but said he was fine, according to the Inquirer's Marc Narducci.

The IronPigs record sunk to 11-13. Lehigh Valley will try for a series split in the finale on Tuesday. A starting pitcher has not been announced yet.

Reading Fightin Phils – Double A

The Fightin Phils' rally fell short in a 8-6 setback to the Portland Sea Dogs at Hadlock Field in Portland, Maine. It was Reading's fourth loss in a row.

Left-handed starter Jesse Biddle (2-3, 3.62 ERA) struggled throughout his outing and put his team in a deep hole. Biddle allowed six runs (two earned) on four hits and five walks while striking out one over four innings of work. He threw 86 pitches in his start, 48 for strikes.

The Fightin Phils trailed, 8-0, heading into the seventh inning. That's when the offense came alive, but it was too much to overcome.

Second baseman Carlos Alonso (3-for-5 with two doubles, a run scored and an RBI), left fielder Cam Perkins (2-for-5 with a run scored, an RBI and a strikeout) and designated hitter Chris Serritella (2-for-5 with a home run, a double, two runs scored, two RBI and a strikeout) did their part at the plate for Reading in the loss.

The Fightin Phils fell to one game above .500 at 11-10. Reading will turn to righty Mike Nesseth (0-0, 3.86 ERA) when the series continues Tuesday.

Clearwater Threshers – Class A-Advanced

The Threshers extended a losing streak to four games in a 6-5 defeat at the hands of the Brevard County Manatees at Bright House Field in Clearwater, Fla.

Center fielder Peter Lavin gave Clearwater a 1-0 lead with a solo home run in the bottom of the first with two outs. It was Lavin's third blast of the season.

The lead was short-lived as right-handed starter Jeb Stefan (1-2, 7.47 ERA) allowed three runs in the top of the second. Stefan would suffer the loss in the game. He gave up five runs on eight hits and four walks while striking out three in five innings.

The Threshers tried to rally on the backs of second baseman KC Serna and Lavin, but couldn't complete the comeback.

Serna (4-for-5 with a double and a run scored) and Lavin (3-for-5 with a home run, a double, two runs scored, two RBI and a strikeout) accounted for seven of Clearwater's 10 hits in the loss.

The loss dropped the Threshers to 5-19. Southpaw Ethan Stewart (1-1, 1.47 ERA) gets the ball as Clearwater tries to get back in the win column as the series continues Tuesday.

Lakewood BlueClaws – Class A

The BlueClaws (7-16) were idle on Monday. Lakewood faces a three-game series with the Lexington Legends (11-13). Righty Alejandro Arteaga (1-3, 9.18 ERA) will take the bump in the opener on Tuesday.
