Here's a look at how the Phillies' minor league affiliates fared on Thursday, May 8.
Lehigh Valley IronPigs – Triple A
Reid Brignac was the hero for the second day in a row for the IronPigs. He bashed a pair of three-run homers to carry Lehigh Valley past the Charlotte Knights, 8-6, at BB&T Ballpark.
Brignac was one of six IronPigs with multiple hits in the game. He, Maikel Franco, Ronny Cedeno, Tyler Henson, Tyson Gillies and Jim Murphy all had two each.
Starting pitcher Brad Lincoln allowed two runs on four hits and struck out three batters in four innings of work. Phillippe Aumont got the win, despite giving up four runs in the fifth and sixth innings. Jeremy Horst delivered two scoreless frames in the seventh and eight, and Cesar Jimenez got the save.
Reading Fightin Phils – Double A
Fighting Phils starting pitcher Percy Garner was thumped by Trenton for five runs on nine hits in just four innings, and the Thunder held on from there for a 5-3 win at Arm & Hammer Park.
Reading rallied in the seventh, as back-to-back doubles by Brock Stassi and Tommy Joseph brought them to within 5-3. But they got no closer, registering just one hit and two walks over the last three innings.
Clearwater Threshers – Class A-Advanced
The Threshers registered just three hits in a 4-0 home loss to Dunedin.
Blue Jays starting pitcher Ben White delivered 7 2/3 innings of scoreless work, and Wil Browning did the rest. Clearwater starter Jon Prosinski gave up just four hits in seven innings, but three of those hits were solo home runs.
Lakewood BlueClaws – Class A
As team nicknames go, the Kannapolis Intimidators have to be considered a pretty good one. They lived up to the billing at FirstEnergy Park, pounding out runs on 14 hits in a 9-2 win over Lakewood.
BlueClaws starter Ranfi Casimiro bore the brunt of the shelling, giving up seven runs on four hits in 4 2/3 innings. Reliever Shane Martin didn't do much better, giving up three runs on four hits in 1 2/3 innings. Keivi Rojas gave up the last two in the eighth.
The one bright spot: shortstop J.P. Crawford extended his hitting streak to 10 games.
