76ers great Maurice Cheeks was released Thursday from a Philadelphia hospital after he had an undisclosed medical problem on a flight to the city the day before, ESPN.com reported.

Cheeks, a 60-year-old assistant coach with the Oklahoma City Thunder, underwent tests at the hospital, a team official told ESPN.

He played for the Sixers from 1978 to 1989 and was the point guard on the 1983 championship team. A four-time all-star, Cheeks coached the Sixers from 2005 to 2009. He also coached the Portland Trail Blazers and Detroit Pistons.

Cheeks had hip surgery last year.
