Who’s running for Philadelphia City Council?

There are more than 50 candidates running for Council in the primaries. Here’s how they divide up.

On May 21, dozens of candidates – 44 Democrats and 11 Republicans – hope to win their party’s nomination in the Philadelphia primary and get onto the fall ballot for a seat on City Council. And while it’s not quite a record (in 1979, more than 100 Democrats ran for at-large seats alone during the height of anti-Rizzo fervor), it’s still a pretty hefty list.
