Montco accident victim identified

Lower Merion Township Police have identified the man who was killed in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday in Villanova.

Winston Staats, 72, of West Seventh Street in Conshohocken, died at the scene when the 1999 Chevrolet van he was driving south on Spring Mill Road was struck by a woman driving a red Toyota Prius west on Morris Road. Police Superintendent Michael McGrath said the woman had failed to obey a stop sign. The accident remains under investigation.

The woman and her child, who was in the backseat of the Prius, have not been identified. They were taken to area hospitals for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
