The trial for former Montgomery County Republican Party Chairman Robert J. Kerns has been scheduled for November, according to the state prosecutor.

Jury selection is set for Nov. 24 with the trial to follow immediately afterward, Deputy Attorney General Daniel J. Dye said.

The trial date was set during a meeting Friday of Dye, defense attorney Brian J. McMonagle and Philadelphia Senior Judge John L. Braxton. Last month, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court approved appointing Braxton to preside over the case after the Montgomery County bench recused itself.

Kerns, 67, of North Wales, is being tried on a felony charge of aggravated indecent assault without consent and another of aggravated indecent assault when the complainant is unconscious or unaware that penetration is occurring.

Prosecutors say Kerns assaulted an employee of his former law firm following an office party in 2013.
