Man pushing bicycle is struck by car in Upper Merion

UPPER MERION A pedestrian who was pushing a bicycle along a township road was struck and seriously injured Wednesday morning after he allegedly stepped into the path of a car.

UPPER MERION A pedestrian who was pushing a bicycle along a township road was struck and seriously injured Wednesday morning after he allegedly stepped into the path of a car.

The incident occurred shortly after 3:30 a.m. in the 900 block of River Road, police said.

When police arrived, the victim was still under the car, his heavily damaged bicycle nearby. The unidentified man was flown to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was listed in critical condition, according to police.

The driver, whose identity police did not release, remained at the scene.

No charges had been filed, but an investigation continues. River Road was closed for about four hours, police said. Anyone with further information is asked to call Upper Merion police at 610-265-3232.
