Three players — including one Eagle — you should start in fantasy in Week 2

The start of the NFL season brings many things: more Taylor Swift appearances, plenty of Jason Kelce commercials and, of course, fantasy football. With Week 1 officially over, it’s time to set your lineups for Week 2. Here are three players you should start this week …

DeVonta Smith, Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver

Smith finished Week 1 with 84 receiving yards and 11.9 fantasy points. If you’re looking for a reliable receiver to bring in consistent production, Smith is that guy — he caught seven of his eight targets against the Green Bay Packers.

Smith is one of the best No. 2 options in the NFL. With A.J. Brown likely getting a bulk of the attention from the Atlanta Falcons secondary, Smith should be freed up for plenty of targets as he looks for his first score of the season on Monday Night Football at the Linc.

Jayden Daniels, Washington Commanders quarterback

In his NFL debut, Daniels finished with 184 passing yards. But he also showed that he is a dual threat, leading all Washington rushers with 88 rushing yards and a pair of touchdowns against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

A dual-threat quarterback? That sounds like a fantasy star to me. The 2023 Heisman trophy winner brought in 28.2 fantasy points in Week 1. Heading into Week 2, the Commanders are facing the New York Giants — a defense that just allowed Sam Darnold 208 passing yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Tony Pollard, Tennessee Titans running back

Pollard (82 rushing yards, three catches for 12 yards, and a touchdown) didn’t put up numbers as big as players like Saquon Barkley, Joe Mixon, Jordan Mason, and J.K. Dobbins — but he's deserving of a start in Week 2.

Pollard finished with 18.4 fantasy points in PPR leagues. He was relatively effective against a tough Chicago Bears run defense on the road. Heading into Week 2, the Titans are up against the New York Jets — a defense that allowed 180 rushing yards to a 49ers team without Christian McCaffrey.
