Hurts? Harper? Big Dom? After LeBron, these 5 Philly icons should get Ken dolls.

LeBron James was unveiled as Mattel’s first “Kenbassador” this week, entering the Barbie universe as the first male athlete to be featured as a Ken doll. The doll will be available later this month, but in the meantime, here are five current Philly sports figures we’d like to see as Ken …

Jalen Hurts

The stoic Hurts already has the jawline for the Ken doll treatment — and now he has the resume to back it up. In four seasons as the Eagles’ starter, the QB has earned two Pro Bowl nods, a Lombardi Trophy, and was named Super Bowl LIX MVP.

Hurts also does a lot for the community through his Jalen Hurts Foundation, recently providing air conditioning to Philly schools. The Hurts Ken doll would come complete with a victory cigar, a pair of headphones — for listening to some Frankie Beverly — and the iconic ‘Love, Hurts’ hoodie he debuted at the parade.

Bryce Harper

Harper has found plenty of success in Philadelphia. The Phillies first baseman won his second National League MVP with the team in 2021 — and followed that with a World Series appearance in 2022 in which he was also voted the NLCS MVP.

Since then, the Phillies have had early exits in Red October. But a Harper Ken doll would still be in popular demand. The set would include an apron for when he’s ready to show off his latest banana bread recipes on TikTok. And in exchange for his first base mitt, Harper’s doll would come with a Phanatic-themed oven mitt.

Saquon Barkley

Barkley achieved quite a lot in his first season with the Eagles — rushing for over 2,000 yards, winning NFL offensive player of the year, and becoming a Super Bowl champion. Now, he’s backward hurdling into the Barbie universe.

The Barkley Ken doll would likely feature the most massive quads in the Barbie universe, and include a Penn State Nittany Lion plushy and a golf club for the offseason. To make this every Penn Stater’s dream, each purchase would come with a free tub of Berkey Creamery ice cream.

Tyrese Maxey

Although the Sixers are in full tank mode, a Maxey Ken doll would not disappoint. The Sixers guard and former Most Improved Player of the Year was one of the bright spots before a finger injury prematurely ended his season.

A Maxey Ken doll would feature his signature smile and would include his two dogs, Apollo and Ari, who Maxey refers to as his children. The set would also include some of the guard’s favorite Welch’s fruit snacks — grape flavor not included.

Big Dom DiSandro

DiSandro’s popularity continues to grow in Philadelphia. The Eagles’ chief security officer has easily become a fan favorite — even Pete Davidson was seen wearing a Big Dom Godfather-themed shirt courtside at a Sixers game.

Big Dom’s Ken doll would feature him in his signature tracksuit. The set will also come with a matching cap — featuring an Italian flag — and a pager, so he can stay on top of everything Eagles players are getting into. The only thing missing from the set is a box of cannoli to really set it off.
