Citizens Bank Park, the home of the Phillies for the last 20 seasons, has hosted many memorable events — from a World Series win to clutch swings to no-hitters and even some big concerts. The nearly 43,000-seat ballpark has seen it all. Here are our top 10 moments in the Bank’s history …

Honorable mention: Bruce Springsteen in Philly

The glory days finally arrived at Citizens Bank Park in 2024 after being delayed for a full year. The icon Springsteen and the E Street Band held a two-night concert series at the stadium — with one band member taking a detour to the Shore.

10. Citizens Bank Park goes Bananas

Philly welcomed the Savannah Bananas with a sold out crowd in September. Instead of your typical game, fans watched a unique experience full of backflip catches and men on stilts. The Bananas even blessed fans with a 2008 Phillies reunion.

9. Trea Turner’s standing ovation

Fans organized a standing ovation for Turner during his 2023 slump. The Phillies said this changed the momentum of their season — advancing to the NLCS. The event inspired a short documentary, The Turnaround, that is coming to Netflix.

8. Phillies win NL East in 2024

Recency bias? Maybe. But the Phillies’ quest to lock up the NL East ended at the Bank. After a 13-year drought, they finally clinched the division. Now, the Phillies are one step closer to the franchise’s third World Series title.

7. Rhys Hoskins’ bat spike

In Game 3 of the 2022 division series against the Atlanta Braves, Hoskins was welcomed with boos after going 1-for-18 to start the playoffs. But Hoskins stepped up against Spencer Strider and hit a home run followed by an iconic bat spike.

6. Shane Victorino’s grand slam off CC Sabathia

In the 2008 NLDS, the Phillies faced a Milwaukee Brewers team led by CC Sabathia. In Game 2, the Flying Hawiian’s grand slam to left field gave the Phillies a 5-1 lead. They went on to win the series in four games.

5. Phillies win NL East in 2007

This season was the start of one of the best eras in Phillies history, marking the first of five straight division titles and an eventual World Series win. The Phillies’ win over the Nationals kicked off a five-year postseason run.

4. Jimmy Rollins’ walk-off double

In Game 4 of the 2009 NLCS, the Phillies were trailing the Dodgers, 4-3, in the ninth. Rollins stepped up to the plate with two outs against Jonathan Broxton and hit a walk-off double to put the Phillies up 3-1 in the series.

3. Bryce Harper brings ‘bedlam’ to the Bank

Harper does big things in big moments — and he did just that in Game 5 of the 2022 NLCS with a swing that caused “bedlam at the Bank,” according to Phillies radio voice Scott Franzke.

The Phillies were down 3-2 in the bottom of the eighth against the San Diego Padres, but led the series 3-1. In perhaps the most important at-bat of his career, Harper hit a two-run home run to left field — sending Philly to its first World Series since 2009 — in what Joe Davis called “the swing of his life.”

2. Roy Halladay’s historic no-hitter

Halladay made history in Game 1 of the 2010 NLDS against the Cincinnati Reds. Making his first postseason appearance, Halladay pitched a no-hitter — just the second no-hitter in postseason history.

This was the Hall of Famer’s second no-no of the season. Halladay threw a perfect game in the Phillies’ 1-0 win over the Marlins in May, joining Jim Bunning as the only pitchers in franchise history to throw a perfect game.

1. Phillies win the 2008 World Series

Obviously, winning the World Series at Citizens Bank Park sits at the top of this list. Nothing beats the moment the Phillies ended a 28-year championship drought for the team — and a 25-year dry spell for the city.

The Phillies were underdogs heading into the series against the Tampa Bay Rays but it didn’t stop players such as Ryan Howard, Cole Hamels, and Shane Victorino from bringing the city its long-awaited title. Chase Utley said it best: “World [bleeping] champs!”
