continues to inch toward the 3,000-hit plateau (he entered Friday just 37 hits shy), he finds himself climbing the charts in other impressive categories.

Biggio belted his 646th double Wednesday night, tying him with the great Carl Yastrzemski for seventh on the all-time list.

The top six and their totals are: Tris Speaker, 792; Pete Rose, 746; Stan Musial, 725; Ty Cobb, 724; George Brett, 665; and Napoleon Lajoie, 657.
