Temple women defeat Quakers

Coach Dawn Staley and her Temple Owls continue to roll through the Big 5, this time taking down Penn, 65-40, in women's basketball at the Liacouras Center last night.

Led by an 18-point performance by guard Ashley Morris, the Owls (7-6) dominated, taking a 35-19 edge into halftime. Temple never let up in the second half, outscoring the Quakers, 30-21, to earn the win and improve to 2-0 in the Big 5.

Other notables for Temple were Shenita Landry (11 points) and center Lady Comfort, who added 10 points and six boards.

Carrie Biemer led Penn (3-7, 0-3 Big 5) with nine points. Sarah Bucar and Kimberly Franklin added eight apiece. *
