The Phillies appear on the verge of siging free-agent third baseman Pedro Feliz.

Feliz, 32, has spent his entire career with the San Francisco Giants. He hit .253 with 20 home runs and 72 RBI last season.

The Phillies are already at 40 on the 40-man roster so another move will have to be made before the acquisition can be completed.

ESPN.com orignally reported earlier today that the Phillies and Feliz had agreed to a 2-year deal, pending a physical.

The Phillies had intended to go into the season with a platoon at third of Wes Helms and Greg Dobbs.
