The best day-after-game news for the Flyers yesterday was that their top defenseman, Kimmo Timonen, will be in the lineup tonight against the New York Islanders at the Wachovia Center.

Timonen took a shot off his right foot early in Friday's 4-3 shoot-out win over the New York Rangers and was bothered the remainder of the game, missing parts of the first and third periods. He said yesterday, however, that he would play tonight.

Timonen leads all Flyers defensemen in assists (34) and points (42).

Another defenseman, Randy Jones, had hoped to play tonight, but he is sore from a right hip flexor. Jones has missed four games, two more than expected.

"Today was a lot better," Jones said after practice yesterday. "I'll go on the ice tomorrow, and I hope to play Tuesday."

The Flyers will be at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday for their final regular-season meeting with the Rangers.
