Jones helps Merion win Philadelphia Cup

Loraine Jones won 51/2 of a possible six points and led Merion Golf Club to the Philadelphia Cup in a playoff at the Women's Golf Association of Philadelphia's Inter-Club Team Matches yesterday at Llanerch.

Merion, Sunnybrook and Philadelphia Cricket Club each finished the matches with 3-1 records after one round was canceled because of rain, forcing the playoff.

Liz Haines and Vinny West each added five points to Merion's total of 26. Philadelphia Cricket was second with 20.5 points, and Sunnybrook collected 16.5.

The Philadelphia Cup is presented to the winning team in the six-team championship bracket.
