High Schools - Pub out to settle some scores by scoring

It won't take much for Year No. 4 of the Public League's involvement in PIAA state baseball playoffs to outdo Year No. 3.

It won't take much for Year No. 4 of the Public League's involvement in PIAA state baseball playoffs to outdo Year No. 3.

One measly run. That's all it'll take.

In 2007, the Pub's four participants - one in each of the four enrollment classifications - were outscored, 42-0.

Today brings a chance for redemption as four teams have first-round assignments.

Three games will be played in Philly. Frankford, District 12's Class AAAA kingpin and the overall Pub champ, will play Avon Grove, the third-place team in District 1, at 3 o'clock at La Salle University.

In a doubleheader at South Philly's Ashburn Field (across Broad Street from the Wachovia Center), Class AAA Philadelphia Electrical and Technology Charter will play Blue Mountain (District 11-No. 1) at 1:30, followed by Class A Girard Academic Music Program vs. Christopher Dock (1-1) at 4:30.

Prep Charter, the Class AA champ, will meet Pine Grove (11-1) at Blue Mountain, in Schuylkill Haven, at 4. *
