Reds update: Volquez faced the Phillies on April 6, squaring off against Myers. He picked up the win, striking out eight while allowing one run on five hits in 5 1/3 innings ... Ken Griffey Jr., who is one home run shy of 600 for his career, was out of the starting lineup last night for the second straight game, and walked as a pinch-hitter in the eighth inning ... The Reds have combined to hit just .237 against Myers in their careers. Griffey is 5-for-12 off of Myers with a home run and three RBI ... Adam Dunn is 3-for-13 off Myers with two HRs.

Phillies update: Myers had his most productive outing of the season last week against Florida. Now, he must see if he can follow it up. Myers last won back-to-back games on April 11 and 17. He is 1-5 with a 6.33 ERA since then ... Myers struck out a season-high 11 batters in beating the Marlins last week ... He faced Cincinnati on April 6, allowing four runs on eight hits in five innings of an 8-2 Phillies loss ... No Phillies hitter had more than one hit against Edinson Volquez in April, the first time any of them faced him.
