All-star teams representing Berks, Chester and Mercer Counties advanced to the second round of the Carpenter Cup baseball tournament yesterday at Penn's Meiklejohn Stadium.

A two-run single by Rich Schamowitz keyed a four-run fifth for Berks County in a 9-3 win over the Inter-Ac League/Independent team. Tim Ravel added a double and three RBIs.

Avon Grove's Brandon Snyder hit a two-run double in a five-run seventh inning as Chester County beat Delaware County, 9-7.

A sacrifice fly in the eighth by Mike Kapuscienski gave Mercer a 4-3 win over the Public League.
