Philadelphia is the only city in which all four major sports teams qualified for postseason play in 2008, according to Ike Richman of Comcast-Spectacor.

When the Eagles reached the NFL playoffs, it marked the first time since 1981 that all four Philadelphia teams qualified for the postseason play in the same season. In the previous season of 1980, all four teams played for their league's championship.
