49ers 20, Lions 6

SAN FRANCISCO - Frank Gore scored on a 1-yard run and topped the 1,000-yard mark for the fourth straight year as San Francisco moved within one win of avoiding a seventh straight losing season by beating Detroit.

Alex Smith threw a TD pass to Vernon Davis, and the Niners forced six turnovers to close out the home season with a win. San Francisco was eliminated from playoff contention with a loss last week to the Eagles, but can still end its string of losing seasons by winning at St. Louis.
