Born to run: A Springsteen shines in opener

Jessica Springsteen of Colts Neck, N.J., won her section of the U.S. Equestrian Team show jumping talent search on Thursday, the first day of the Devon Horse Show and Country Fair.

The daughter of rock star Bruce Springsteen was also named the winner of the Honey Craven Memorial Perpetual Trophy as the best rider in the three sections of the talent search, an equitation class.

In equitation, juniors under 18 are judged on position and riding ability.

At Devon last year, Springsteen rode the Large Junior Hunter Champion and Junior Grand Hunter Champion.

"I love Devon," said Springsteen, who plans to attend Duke University in the fall. "I look forward to coming to Devon all year."

Abby O'Mara of Rumson, N.J., won two classes, her section of the talent search and her section of the Hunter Seat Medal.

Taylor Ann Adams of Memphis also posted two wins, taking the blue ribbon in her section of the Washington Equitation Classic as well as in her section of the Medal.
