College Basketball: Wisconsin beats rival Marquette

Wisconsin coach Bo Ryan said the win over in-state rival Marquette reminded him of playground basketball.

There must have been plenty of misses and defense when Ryan played while growing up in suburban Philadelphia.

Josh Gasser scored 12 points on four three-pointers, while 7-footer Frank Kaminsky added 15 points and 10 rebounds in the No. 2 Badgers' 49-38 victory in Milwaukee.

Wisconsin (8-1) shot 32 percent while contending with a 2-3 zone defense by the undersize Golden Eagles (4-4), who don't have a starter taller than 6-foot-7.

Virginia 74, VCU 57 - Justin Anderson scored 21 points, including a late three-pointer in the middle of a clutch 15-0 run, and the No. 7 Cavaliers (9-0) ended VCU's 22-game home winning streak with the victory in Richmond.

NJIT 72, Michigan 70 - Damon Lynn made a critical three-pointer with less than three minutes to go and finished with 20 points to help New Jersey Institute of Technology (3-5) stun No. 17 Michigan in Ann Arbor.

Lehigh 80, LIU-Brooklyn 76 - Kahron Ross scored a career-high 19 points, Justin Goldsborough scored 13 and grabbed 10 rebounds, and the visiting Mountain Hawks (4-4) beat winless LIU-Brooklyn (0-6) for its fourth straight victory.

Lafayette 98, Wagner 84 - Dan Trist scored 26 points and Joey Ptasinski added 20, hitting six three-pointers, and the Leopards raced past Wagner (2-4) in Easton, Pa.

Concordia 56, Goldey-Beacom 53 - The visiting Lightning (3-4, 1-1 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference) came up short in the loss to Concordia (3-6, 1-2) in Bronxville, N.Y.

Delaware Valley 78, Eastern 74 - In Doylestown, Nick Sullivan connected for 25 points while Chris Moran had 19 points and 19 rebounds to lead the Aggies (5-3, 2-0) over the Eagles (2-5, 0-2) in a Freedom Conference match-up.
