Not a whole lot of good came out of the Soul's 53-48 loss to the Pittsburgh Power during the weekend, but one of the few bright spots was defensive lineman Bryan Robinson.
Robinson earned AFL Defensive Player of the Week honors after recording six total tackles, five of which were behind the line of scrimmage and two sacks.
Robinson also blocked a kick as well.
"This is a great honor to win this award," Robinson said via a team press release. "I really wouldn't have been in the situation I was in to have this performance if it wasn't for the defense as a whole."
His performance against Pittsburgh placed him No. 2 in franchise history for career sacks. He has recorded 15.5 so far in a Soul uniform and is only 2.5 away from the record of 18 currently held by Dwayne Missouri.
The Soul (3-4) will need Robinson to have another award-winning performance Saturday against the Orlando Predators (2-5).
The Predators have won two in a row under new quarterback Aaron Garcia, who led the Predators to an 83-point performance during a win over the Spokane Shock last week.
