Police investigate body dragged onto Holmesburg sidewalk
Police on Friday were investigating the death of a man whose body was dragged onto a Holmesburg sidewalk Thursday.
About 6:50 p.m., police responded to a report of an unconscious man on the 8000 block of Frankford Avenue, outside a building that houses a dental office and apartments. The man was pronounced dead by medics at the scene.
Police said Friday that surveillance video showed two men and a woman dragging the man's body out of the building and leaving him on the sidewalk.
The cause of death, which is being investigated by homicide detectives, has not yet been determined. No arrest has been made in the case.
Chief Inspector Scott Small told 6ABC Thursday night: "We noticed that a camera right inside the lobby was covered with what appeared to be a washcloth, which was very suspicious. The exterior camera that was facing the body was not covered."
After police were shown by the building's owner what the exterior camera captured, authorities grew concerned, 6ABC reported.
"You can clearly see that this body was dragged from inside the building outside, to where it lies now, and left on the sidewalk," Small said. "It appears that two males - possibly a female - were dragging the body out onto the sidewalk, which is very suspicious behavior."
Small said two people were taken in by police for questioning Thursday night. Police were also looking for three people who jumped out of a back window of the building as officers arrived to the scene, 6ABC reported.
A woman who answered the phone Friday at the dental office said the office was closed Thursday. She said she did not know anything about the man's death.
