UPS and Peco open Philly region's 15th CNG fueling station

Just in time for the holiday shipping season, UPS and Peco Energy Co. opened a new compressed-natural-gas fueling station Friday in Horsham to serve the carrier's growing fleet of CNG vehicles.

The station, which will be supplied by Peco gas, enables UPS to add 60 new alternative-fuel CNG tractor-trailer trucks to its regional fleet. Utilities like such as Peco are marketing CNG as a cleaner-burning alternative to diesel.

The site at the giant UPS distribution center in Montgomery County will be open only to UPS vehicles. It is the 15th CNG fueling station in Peco territory, which includes 11 public stations and four private stations, said Ben Armstrong, Peco spokesman.
