A man wanted in a 2015 shooting death of a 63-year-old delivery driver during a robbery in Yeadon, Delaware County, has been captured in Georgia, authorities said.

Rodney Talbo Shelton II, 38, was arrested Friday afternoon at his girlfriend's apartment in Decatur, just outside of Atlanta.

“He initially tried to run out the back door, but we had officers back there, and then he decided to give up and come to the front door” Inspector Frank Lempka with the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Task Force told reporters.

At about 3:30 a.m. June 9, 2015, authorities have said, Shelton tried to rob Thomas Childs, a delivery driver from Aston, at the Ridgway Industries loading dock along Baltimore Avenue in Yeadon. When Childs resisted, Shelton allegedly fired two shots, striking Childs once in the back and killing him at the scene.

Shelton made off with barely $20 and Childs' cellphone before dropping them just yards away in a cemetery, officials have said.

A $20,000 reward had been posted in the hunt for Shelton, of Elizabeth City, N.C. Shelton remains in custody in Georgia as he awaits extradition. He faces murder, robbery and gun charges.
