MIAMI - DeShawn Stevenson had a season high of 26 points, and the Washington Wizards added to Miami's misery at home by routing the Heat last night, 104-91.

Caron Butler added 19 points and nine rebounds for Washington, which had lost in its last eight trips to Miami.

Chris Quinn had a career high of 22 points for Miami, which lost for the seventh time in nine home games this season. Only Minnesota, which is 2-8, has a worse home record.

Horford suspended.

Atlanta Hawks forward Al Horford was suspended for one game by the NBA for a flagrant foul on Toronto's T.J. Ford.

Horford struck Ford on the head and knocked him down as Ford was trying to score on a breakaway with 1 minute, 32 seconds left Tuesday night in Atlanta.

Horford, who was ejected, said he was trying to block Ford's shot.

Clippers waive Patterson.

Los Angeles waived forward Ruben Patterson hours after he helped the team beat the Nets in New Jersey for the first time in nearly 10 years.

Patterson and Tim Thomas led a 16-5 run that put the Clippers ahead for good in the third quarter of Wednesday night's 91-82 victory.

Patterson made five starts in 20 games this season, averaging 5.1 points and 3.2 assists.

Hornets lose Ely.

New Orleans center Melvin Ely has a fractured left eye socket that will keep him out of tonight's game at Dallas.

Ely was hurt when he was elbowed by Denver's Kenyon Martin on Wednesday night. A Hornets spokesman said a timetable for Ely's return would be set after further examination.
