Phantoms earn shutout

NORFOLK, Va. - Darroll Powe's shorthanded and unassisted goal at 10 minutes, 8 seconds of the second period stood up last night as the Phantoms beat the Norfolk Admirals, 1-0, in an AHL game.

NORFOLK, Va. - Darroll Powe's shorthanded and unassisted goal at 10 minutes, 8 seconds of the second period stood up last night as the Phantoms beat the Norfolk Admirals, 1-0, in an AHL game.

Goalie Scott Munroe stopped all 25 of Norfolk's shots, while his Admirals counterpart, Kartri Ramo, saved 26 of the Phantoms' 27 shots.

It was Munroe's second shutout of the season.

The Phantoms continue to lead the East Division at 19-7-1, increasing their advantage to five points over the Albany River Rats, who lost. Norfolk fell to 10-15.

The Providence Bruins and Hartford Wolf Pack of the Eastern Conference's Atlantic Division, who both won last night, have the overall AHL lead ahead of the Phantoms with 46 and 40 points, respectively.

The Phantoms return to the Wachovia Spectrum tonight at 5:05 to host the the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
