In the wake of the Mitchell Report, Comcast SportsNet will re-air at 3 p.m. Saturday the town hall meeting it held in May 2005, titled "Sports and Steroids: Performance Enhancing Drugs in Schools."
That community outreach program was put together in a partnership with the Franklin Institute Science Museum. Directed toward middle school and high school student-athletes and coaches, it featured a panel discussion, question-and-answer session and taped athlete features. One of those athletes was former slugger Jose Canseco, whose book "Juiced" set in motion the questions that ultimately led to the George Mitchell investigation.
Comcast SportsNet also will feature a 7-day series beginning Christmas Day that focuses on Philly sports highlights in 2007. Fans will be able to vote for their favorite story line on comcastsportsnet.com through Saturday, and the results will determine the order in which these features air. The series will be televised at 6:30 and 10 p.m. through New Year's Eve. *
