High Schools - Rain dampens baseball plans
So, is your appetite wet for playoff baseball? Be patient. Yesterday, rain caused early washouts of Catholic League pre-playoffs in each division and the forecast for today is iffy. Plus, who knows whether the fields will be playable even if the sun appears.

for playoff baseball? Be patient.
Yesterday, rain caused early washouts of Catholic League pre-playoffs in each division and the forecast for today is iffy. Plus, who knows whether the fields will be playable even if the sun appears.
Ttoday's schedule:
Catholic pre-playoffs (both at 3:45): Red, North Catholic vs. Archbishop Ryan, at La Salle High; Blue, Archbishop Carroll at Archbishop Wood. Public League quarterfinals (all at 3:15): Philadelphia Electrical and Technology Charter at Frankford; Girard Academic Music Program at Northeast; Abraham Lincoln at Central; Prep Charter at George Washington.
Malvern Prep, the champion, hosts Penn Charter at 4, and Haverford School visits Germantown Academy at 3:45 in season-ending Inter-Ac games. A partial replay of a May 6 game involving GA and Malvern has been scrapped, and GA has been declared a 4-2 winner. GA committed a rules violation involving pitching changes that day and, although no protest was filed, offered to refinish the game from the point where Malvern had runners on first and third with two away in the home sixth.
With the title already decided, and a private-school tourney set to begin tomorrow, Malvern has opted to accept the loss. *
