Villanova advances to Big East baseball semifinals

Villanova will play Louisville in the semifinal round today. The Wildcats need to beat Louisville twice to reach tomorrow's title game.

Hoffman (6-1) struck out nine and walked three in his second complete game of the season.

Dolbier hit a sacrifice fly, and Wesley Borden and Dain Hall each had RBI doubles in a four-run fourth that put Villanova ahead, 5-0.

Villanova's Derek Shunk went 2-for-4 with a double and extended his career-best hitting streak to 14 games. He has nine hits in 13 at-bats during the tourney.

In another tournament:

* Duquesne's Anthony Manley hit a two-run double with one out in the eighth inning to lead the Dukes to a 10-7 win over Temple in an elimination game at the Atlantic 10 Tournament at Campbell's Field in Camden.

Senior Stan Orzechowski had three hits and three RBI to lead the Owls. *
