Mickelson finished the round with a 17-foot birdie for a 5-under-par 65 that got him to 12-under 198. He led Rod Pampling (63) and Stephen Ames (64) by a stroke.
Pampling was on pace for a record-tying round at Colonial before he had consecutive bogeys on the 16th and 17th holes.

CORNING, N.Y. - Jeong Jang shot a 3-under 69 in the wind to tie Erica Blasberg at 7-under 209 for the lead after three rounds at the LPGA Corning Classic.
Jang sank a three-foot birdie putt on her final hole to tie Blasberg (70). Leta Lindley (70) and Katherine Hull (72) were a stroke behind at Corning Country Club.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Steady Bernhard Langer held off Jay Haas' late run, which included a stunning eagle on Oak Hill Country Club's No. 17, and took the lead by a shot ahead of Haas and local favorite Jeff Sluman after the third round of the Senior PGA Championship.

VIRGINIA WATER, England - Robert Karlsson shot a 2-under 70 in windy conditions to take a 4-stroke lead at 11-under 205 after the third round of the BMW PGA Championship at the Wentworth Club.
Miguel-Angel Jimenez (72) and Oliver Wilson (73) were at 209.
NCAA women
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Arizona State's Azahara Munoz rolled in a 25-foot birdie putt on the first hole of sudden death Friday to win the NCAA women's individual championship over UCLA's Tiffany Joh at the University of New Mexico course.
Southern California beat UCLA for the team title by 6 strokes. It was the second team golf championship for the Trojans.
