TOWSON, Md. - Penn's bid for a national title in women's lacrosse came to a halt Sunday night in the championship game as Northwestern prevailed, 10-6.

The title was the fourth in a row for Northwestern (21-1) and avenged a loss earlier in the season to Penn (17-2).

Hilary Bowen led Northwestern with three goals and tied a tournament record with 17 overall.

Ali DeLuca led the Quakers with two goals.

It was the first time a Penn team in any sport appeared in an NCAA-sanctioned national championship game. *
