Reds’ Griffey to sit tonight

Ken Griffey Jr.'s pursuit of home run No. 600 will have to wait at least another night.

Ken Griffey Jr.'s pursuit of home run No. 600 will have to wait at least another night.

Griffey was not in the lineup posted this afternoon at Citizens Bank Park for tonight's game against the Phillies.

He is attempting to become the sixth player to reach 600 homers in baseball history.

Griffey left Sunday's game against Houston in the seventh inning with a strained left hamstring. It is not clear whether Griffey was not in the lineup because of the injury.

"I'm not worried about 600," Griffey told reporters after the game. "If you hit the ball hard enough, it will go. A lot of things happen between 599 and 600 - getting hits, getting guys over and a lot of small things."
