The 76ers will hold their first pre-draft workouts Friday, bringing three big men to Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.
The Sixers have the 16th pick in the first round of the June 26 draft.
The players are:
* C.J. Giles, a 6-10 center from Oregon State. Giles was thrown off the team at two colleges. After playing 44 games in two seasons at Kansas, he was tossed for several incidents, including academic issues and missed practices. He transferred to Oregon State but played only 10 games before Kevin Mouton took over as interim coach midway through the year. He averaged 6.3 points and 5.6 rebounds in those 10 games.
Giles has eight workouts scheduled before the draft.
* JaVale McGee, a 7-foot sophomore power forward/center from Nevada. He averaged 14.1 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.8 blocks last season. He reportedly has been working out at an undisclosed location away from campus for the past 7 weeks to get ready for his workouts. He is the son of former WNBA star Pam McGee.
* Callistus Eziukwu, a 6-10 power forward from Division II Grand Valley State who was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference player of the year.
He averaged 15.2 points, 8.6 rebounds, 2.4 blocked shots; shot 62.9 percent from the field; and posted 13 double-doubles. He is third all-time in Division II in blocked shots with 315.
Grand Valley went 30-0 in the regular season and finished 36-1 after reaching the D-II Elite Eight. *
