Temple football gets another recruit

Temple's football program received its 17th verbal commitment for the class of 2009, which is expected to reach 25 and will be officially introduced on national signing day Feb. 4.

Cornerback Byron Parker, a 5-11, 175-pound senior from Tallwood High School in Virginia Beach, Va., is headed to North Broad Street even though he didn't make an official visit. He also had a scholarship offer from East Carolina.

Rivals.com listed Parker as an athlete; he also played running back.

The Owls won five games this season, the most since the 1990 team finished 7-4. *
