After losing four straight games to Cardinal O'Hara, rival Archbishop Carroll played giant-killer last night.

The Patriots (23-1) spotted Cardinal O'Hara a 24-12 lead but then roared back to win, 50-42, in a Catholic League semifinal at Gwynedd-Mercy College. Cardinal O'Hara was ranked No. 4 nationally in the latest USA Today poll.

The Shields sisters led the way, with junior guard Erin scoring 15 points and Kerri, a senior bound for Boston College, adding 12. Junior guard Natasha Cloud led the Lions (22-2) with 14 points.

Carroll lost three games to O'Hara last year, including the title game, and also dropped the first game of this season.

Carroll will play Archbishop Wood on Monday night (6:30) at the Palestra. Wood beat Archbishop Ryan, 50-35, in the other semifinal game at Gwynedd-Mercy. Saint Joseph's University-bound Ashley Robinson scored 22 points to lead the Vikings. *
