The Daily News got duped.

In High & Inside yesterday and on our Eagles blog, we wrote about a Super Bowl prediction by Eagles cornerback Asante Samuel and information about Eagles defensive end Trent Cole posted on Twitter pages that were presented as being written by the players.

An Eagles spokesman said yesterday that neither player has a Twitter account.

"We spoke to both players," spokesman Derek Boyko said. "They were misrepresented. It was not their posts. They don't belong to those Web sites."

This comes on the heels of a similar incident in which an imposter was tweeting Sunday as DeMarcus Ware, of the Dallas Cowboys, and indicated he was close to a contract extension. The information was posted by several media outlets.

The Daily News apologizes to Samuel, Cole, the Eagles and our readers. *
