Rehab moving slowly for Phillies reliever Condrey

CLEARWATER, Fla. - Phillies righthander Clay Condrey said it might be a while before he rejoins his teammates. "This is going to go a bit slower," Condrey said after his workout yesterday morning, "We're probably not looking for anytime before Sept. 1, but hopefully we'll see how it's going next week."

On the 15-day DL since July 25 for the second time this season, Condrey is rehabbing an oblique strain.

"It's a muscle in your rib cage, one of those injuries that can be iffy," he said. "One day it feels good, the next day it's not going to feel good. Lately here it has been doing pretty good.

"I'm just playing catch, getting up to 90 feet, then maybe go off the mound Wednesday or Thursday."

Despite the two trips to the DL this season Condrey has pitched in 36 games, with a 6-2 record, one save, and a 3.41 ERA.
