Villanova will host William and Mary in a NCAA Football Championship Subdivision semifinal Friday at 8 p.m. at Villanova Stadium.
The Wildcats (12-1) advanced Saturday with a 46-7 rout of visiting New Hampshire. The Tribe (11-2) beat host Southern Illinois, 24-3, in Carbondale, Ill.
ESPN2 will televise the game. The national championship contest for the former Division I-AA will be played Dec. 18 in Chattanooga, Tenn.
In the other semifinal, Appalachian State (11-2) will play at Montana (13-0) on Saturday.
Meyer recovering. Florida coach Urban Meyer was released from a hospital in Gainesville after being treated for dehydration.
He was admitted early yesterday morning, but a school spokesman said Meyer was feeling much better.
Meyer's stay came hours after the Gators lost, 32-13, to Alabama in the Southeastern Conference title game.
Rumblings in Virginia. Virginia has called a news conference for today, and it seems likely that the Cavaliers will introduce their choice to replace coach Al Groh, who was fired a week ago.
Yesterday, the school asked Richmond for permission to speak with coach Mike London about the job.
Several Virginia newspapers and ESPN reported that London has accepted the position. The 49-year-old has gone 24-5 in two seasons at Richmond. The Spiders won the Football Championship Subdivision championship last year.
Vulcans fall. California (Pa.) exited the NCAA Division II playoffs Saturday with a 56-31 semifinal loss at Northwest Missouri State.
