Jordan Wynn threw for a career-high 338 yards and three touchdowns to rally No. 23 Utah (10-3) from an early two-touchdown deficit to a 37-27 victory over California (8-5) in the Poinsettia Bowl last night in San Diego.

The Utes scored 27 straight points to win their ninth straight bowl game, the longest current streak in the country.

Wynn completed 26 of 36 passes and improved to 3-2 as the starter for Utah (10-3).

Utah's defense sacked Cal's Kevin Riley five times and intercepted him twice.

* Cincinnati Bengals assistant Bob Surace was hired as coach at Princeton, his alma mater. The center on the Tigers' 1989 Ivy League championship team, Surace replaces Roger Hughes, who was fired last month after 10 seasons at the school. *
