Donovan McNabb's father probably would have preferred that his son not get traded on Easter Sunday, but the timing was not lost on him.

"Absolutely, it meant something," Sam McNabb told USA Today. "We were celebrating Jesus' resurrection, right? Then we turn around and Donovan gets resurrected. Just perfect."

Sam later said that what Donovan experienced in Philadelphia will only help him as he moves to the Redskins and a new chapter in what the quarterback called "the Book of Donovan."

"There is no testimony without having gone through a test," Sam McNabb said. "My motto is, 'You have to go through some things to get to some things.' What he went through in Philadelphia will probably help him get to what he really wants.

"Remember what our ancestors would tell us growing up? They said, 'Whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger.' "
