It was billed as the "Battle of 33rd Street," but Drexel limited Penn to fewer points than that in a 62-31 Dragons victory last night at Drexel.

Penn scored the game's first nine points and held a 9-0 lead 10 minutes, 23 seconds into the first half. But Drexel (2-0) outscored the Quakers, 22-3, over the rest of the half, then poured in 40 more points in the second half.

Jasmina Rosseel led the Dragons with 12 points, five rebounds and five assists, and Hollie Mershon scored 10 points as 11 players scored for Drexel. Penn's leading scorers were Jess Knapp and Kristen Kody with four points each.

Drexel shot 24-for-49 from the field, while Penn (1-1) was 11-for-50.

* At Temple, junior Shey Peddy led four double-figure scorers with 20 points, eight rebounds, four steaks and three assists to lead the Owls (1-2) to a 74-64 triumph over Buffalo. Kristen McCarthy added 18 points, Qwedia Wallace 15 and Victoria Macaulay 10 for Temple, while Kourtney Brown led Buffalo with 18 points and 17 rebounds.

* At Navy, sophomore Megan Pearson scored 15 points with five rebounds and four assists in Villanova's 54-41 win over the Midshipmen in the Navy Classic. Junior Sarah Jones added 13 points, hitting four of nine three-pointers, and junior Lindsay Kimmel had eight points and eight rebounds. The Wildcats (2-1) play Oral Roberts this morning.

* At Georgetown, La Salle's Ashley Gale led all scorers with 18 points (5-of-12 three-pointers), but the Explorers (1-3) blew a 10-point halftime lead (28-18) in losing to the No. 13 Hoyas, 50-46. Sugar Rodgers and Monica McNutt scored 10 each for Georgetown.
