Trey Burke scored 19 points and freshman Nik Stauskas added 12 to lead No. 3 Michigan to a 67-39 victory over Binghamton Tuesday night in Ann Arbor, Mich.

The Wolverines (10-0) are off to their best start since their national title season of 1988-89, and this win was every bit the mismatch it looked like before the opening tip. The Bearcats (2-9) led Michigan, 10-8, before the Wolverines went on a 19-2 run.

Buying a sellout

Oklahoma State's New Year's Eve matchup against No. 14 Gonzaga is looking like a sellout, thanks to T. Boone Pickens.

The billionaire oilman and Oklahoma State alumnus bought up the remaining 4,000 tickets and will offer them for free to Cowboys fans beginning Wednesday. He says he hopes Oklahoma State fans will pack the arena for the game.

The No. 23 Cowboys (7-1) are 317-45 at home since 1988.

Women's basketball

Maryland 88, Towson 43 - Alyssa Thomas had 23 points and 13 rebounds, and Katie Rutan added a season-high 16 points to lead the No. 10 Terrapins (7-2) over the host Tigers (4-4).

Lucas honored. Penn State guard Maggie Lucas (Germantown Academy) earned the Ann Myers Drysdale national player of the week award after netting 39 points, including seven three-pointers, in the Dec. 9 win over Georgetown.
