Freshman point guard Tyus Jones scored 21 points; Justise Winslow hit two key baskets; and No. 2 Duke responded to a tongue lashing by coach Mike Krzyzewski to beat defending champion Connecticut, 66-56, on Thursday night in East Rutherford, N.J.
Ahead by 30-25 at the break, Duke (10-0) got off to a slow start in the second half, and UConn (4-4) tied it, raising Coach K's ire.
Ryan Boatright had 22 points to lead the Huskies.
Quinnipiac 80, Lehigh 65 - Ousmane Drame and Justin Harris both turned in double-doubles, and the host Bobcats snapped a three-game losing streak by ending the Mountain Hawks' four-game winning streak. Both teams had similar shooting nights, but Quinnipiac (4-5) had a 53-30 advantage on the boards over Lehigh (4-5). Corey Schaefer led Lehigh with 11 points; Kahron Ross added 10.
Temple 78, Howard 48
- Freshman Tanaya Atkinson's 22 points and 11 rebounds helped the Owls snap a four-game losing streak on the road. Sophomore Taylor Robinson had a season-high 15 points, and junior Erica Covile chipped in 14 and nine rebounds for Temple (4-7). Howard dropped to 1-10.
