At his funeral, middleweight Bennie Briscoe is recalled as a tough, kind man

Down in South Philadelphia, the long-resilient Spectrum stands with a hole banged in its side, ready to be knocked down and out for good. Off North Broad Street at the Deliverance Evangelistic Church, where Shibe Park once stood, family and friends gathered Monday to say goodbye to another Philadelphia sports legend, Bennie Briscoe.
