What I Do

I handle breaking news, copy editing, and story assignments after normal business hours.

My Background

I started at the Philadelphia Daily News as a part-time editorial assistant in 1988, answering phones, taking scores, and fetching coffee for the bosses. I joined the copy desk in 1990 and worked in every department: news, sports, features, and business. I became the news editor in 2009, in charge of the night news desk operation, and handled that task until the Daily News/Inquirer staffs merged, when I was named Senior Multiplatform Editor. In between, I wrote a weekly minor league baseball column called "The System" and was a regular contributor to the Daily News' "High and Inside" sports feature. Picked up a few headline awards along the way, too. Now I'm the night editor.
